Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup salted butter
  • 1 cup packed light brown sugar
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon Kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 14 ounces sweetened condensed milk
  • 10 ounces soft caramels
  • 1 teaspoon flaked sea salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Prepare a 9×13-inch baking pan by lining it with foil and spraying it with cooking spray.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar using an electric mixer until fluffy. Add eggs, vanilla extract, salt, and baking soda; mix until smooth. Gradually incorporate flour and fold in chocolate chips.
  3. Press three-quarters of the dough into the prepared baking pan.
  4. In a saucepan over medium-low heat, melt together the sweetened condensed milk and unwrapped soft caramels until smooth.
  5. Pour three-quarters of the caramel mixture over the dough and dollop remaining dough on top. Reserve leftover caramel for drizzling later.
  6. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes or until the center is just set. Sprinkle with flaked sea salt upon removal from the oven.
  7. Allow to cool completely before cutting into bars.
