  • ½ cup unsalted butter (cold)

  • 1 beaten egg (for egg wash)
  • 1½ cups powdered sugar (for icing)
  • 2 tablespoons milk or heavy cream

Instructions

  1. Prepare the blackberry filling by cooking blackberries with sugar, cornstarch, salt, and cinnamon until thickened. Mash any large berries.
  2. Make the pie dough by mixing flour, sugar, salt, shortening, and grated cold butter until crumbly. Add sour cream mixture and form into a dough; chill.
  3. Roll out the chilled dough and cut into rectangles; fill half with blackberry filling and top with another rectangle. Seal edges.
