  • ¼ c. Corn starch
  • ¼ tsp Salt
  • ¾ c. Unsalted Butter (room temperature)
  • ¾ c. Granulated Sugar
  • 1 Large Egg (room temperature)
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • ½ tsp Almond Extract
  • 4 c. Powdered Sugar
  • 3 Tbsp Meringue powder
  • 910 Tbsp water (room temperature)
  • Gel Food Coloring (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, corn starch, and salt.
  3. Cream the butter and sugar in another bowl until light and fluffy.
  4. Add egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract; mix until well combined.
  5. Gradually blend in dry ingredients to form dough.
  6. Roll out dough on a floured surface to about ¼ inch thick; cut shapes with cookie cutters.
  7. Bake for about 12 minutes or until edges are lightly golden.
  8. Cool on racks before decorating with royal icing.
