  • 1 cup granulated sugar

  • 1/3 cup molasses
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour (300 grams)
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 12 teaspoons ground ginger
  • Granulated sugar for rolling
  • 1 tablespoon melted butter
  • 1 tablespoon pure maple syrup
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar (180 grams)
  • 2 tablespoons milk (and a very tiny bit more if you need more)
  • Pinch of salt, to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cream together softened butter and granulated sugar until fluffy. Add egg and molasses; mix well.
  3. Combine all-purpose flour, baking soda, salt, and ground ginger into the mixture until a soft dough forms.
  4. Roll small portions of dough in granulated sugar and place on parchment-lined baking sheets.
  5. Bake for 9–11 minutes until edges are slightly crisp but centers are soft.
  6. Prepare the maple glaze by whisking melted butter, maple syrup, powdered sugar, milk, and salt until smooth.
  7. Dip cooled cookies into the glaze and let them set on wax paper.
