Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter (16 Tbsp), softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup light brown sugar, tightly packed
  • 2 large eggs, at room temperature
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips (12 oz), reserving 1/4 cup for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a stand mixer bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar on medium-high speed until light and fluffy (about 5 minutes).
  3. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Mix in vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet ingredients in thirds until just combined. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  5. Use an ice cream scoop to portion dough balls onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart. Top each ball with reserved chocolate chips.
  6. Bake for 12–15 minutes until edges are golden but centers appear under-baked; cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a cooling rack.
