  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 cup uncooked white rice, cooked
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried marjoram

Instructions

  1. Core the cabbage and carefully remove leaves. Blanch in boiling water for 2-3 minutes until pliable; trim thick stems.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef, cooked rice, chopped onion, minced garlic, egg, salt, and black pepper. Mix thoroughly.
  3. Place filling onto each cabbage leaf, fold sides in, and roll tightly from the bottom.
  4. Arrange rolls seam-side down in a large pot or Dutch oven.
  5. In a bowl, mix crushed tomatoes, beef broth, paprika, and marjoram; pour over rolls.
  6. Cover and simmer on low heat for 1.5 to 2 hours until cabbage is tender and filling is cooked through.
  7. Serve hot with additional sauce spooned over top.
