  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon pure maple syrup
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon maple extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. In a mixer, beat room temperature unsalted butter and maple sugar until combined but slightly grainy.
  2. Add powdered sugar and mix until light and fluffy. Blend in pure maple syrup and maple extract.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together all-purpose flour, cornstarch, and salt; gradually add to wet ingredients until a dough forms.
  4. Chill dough for 30 minutes, then roll out on a floured surface to 1/8" thick.
  5. Cut out cookie shapes using a maple leaf cutter and bake at 350°F for 8-10 minutes.
  6. For the cream filling, beat together unsalted butter, powdered sugar, maple syrup, vanilla extract, and remaining maple extract until smooth.
  7. Assemble cookies by spreading filling between two cookies.
