  • 1 teaspoon granulated sugar
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • ¼ cup melted unsalted butter
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon ground allspice
  • 1 ½ teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup raisins
  • 33.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup all-purpose flour
  • 34 tablespoons water
  • ¼ cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon maple syrup
  • 23 teaspoons milk

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast by combining warm water, yeast, and sugar in a bowl; let it froth for 5-10 minutes.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix warm milk, melted butter, granulated sugar, cinnamon, allspice, salt, and vanilla. Add the yeast mixture and raisins.
  3. Gradually stir in flour until a sticky dough forms. Knead on a floured surface for 8-10 minutes until elastic.
  4. Let the dough rise in a greased bowl covered with a damp cloth until doubled in size (1-2 hours).
  5. Divide into 12 pieces; shape each into a bun and let rise again on parchment-lined baking sheet for 30 minutes.
  6. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and bake buns for 20-22 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Prepare icing by mixing flour with water to create a paste; pipe crosses on cooled buns.
