  • 1½ cups peeled, diced tart apple (such as Granny Smith)
  • Optional: ¼ cup chopped pecans or walnuts
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
  • 23 tablespoons milk
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Extra powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. 1. Preheat your waffle iron according to manufacturer instructions.
  2. 2. In a large bowl, mix together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  3. 3. In another bowl, whisk together eggs, granulated sugar, brown sugar, buttermilk, melted butter, and vanilla until smooth.
  4. 4. Combine wet ingredients with dry ingredients; stir gently until just mixed. Fold in diced apples.
