  • 1 cup sugar (200 g)
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour (133 g)
  • ½ tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • 1 cup chopped apple pieces (100 g)
  • ½ cup toasted pecan pieces (53 g)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a small pan, toast the pecans until fragrant and set aside.
  3. Peel, core, and chop the apples into small chunks.
  4. In a mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until fluffy. Add the egg and mix well.
  5. Combine dry ingredients: flour, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon; then mix into the wet ingredients until just combined.
  6. Fold in the chopped apples and toasted pecans.
  7. Pour batter into a greased or parchment-lined 8×8 baking dish and bake for 30-45 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Allow cooling for about 15 minutes before slicing into squares.
